Clean Banana Bread

One of my 5 year old daughter’s favourite snacks is banana bread.  Whenever we go to Starbucks or a bakery she will usually chose banana bread over other snacks like cookies or cupcakes.  I’ve been on the search for a good “clean” banana bread recipe for her. I’m not really sure if it was bad luck, or what…..but the few recipes I tried were terrible!! They tasted really “healthy” if you know what I mean and my daughter wouldn’t eat it.  I spent some time playing around with some recipes and came up with this final product.  After many bad batches I really had to convince my daughter to try this- but the final result was success! She LOVES it!! My 2 year old loves it too! In fact, they ate half a loaf in one day- I had to cut them off! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! 🙂

Clean Banana Bread

1 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour (I use the gluten free flour from costco)

1 1/4 Tsp Baking powder

1/2 Tsp Baking soda

1 Tsp Cinnamon

2 Eggs

3 Ripe Bananas

1/2 Cup Honey

1/4 Cup Unsweetened apple sauce or apple butter

Pinch Sea salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350F

Mix all dry ingredients together and mix well. Add in the rest of the ingredients and mix thoroughly.  Pour into greased bread pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.

  1. Love your recipes, thank you! What is in the gluten-free flour you use from Costco? I just went to a seminar and they said to watch out for gluten-free products that have things like potato starch, corn starch, cellulose, carageen, and for the life of me I can’t find anything that does not break that rule, thanks – keep posting amazing recipes!!!
